Côte; traditional French cooking that will transport you to
a brasserie in Paris that screams Ooh La
La.
It can be rather difficult to eat gluten free in French
restaurants, flour tends to fly about the kitchen making its way into sauces,
deserts and of course bread is encouraged as a starter or side dish… Thankfully
Côte recognises this and has made a huge effort to include gluten free diners.
Recently accredited by Coeliac UK, their huge gluten free
menu (with a whopping 46 options I might add!) is filled to the brim with
French classics such as Tuna Nicoise, Moules Frites and Creme Brulee and each
beautifully presented dish arrives with a little GF flag in it to note that it
has been prepared sans gluten.
My personal recommendations include; the Fish Parmentier
(which is generously filled with flavoursome fish, plump prawns and a wonderful
crisp mash potato topping), the Beef Bourguignon (with the tender-est of meat
and a smashing amount of flavour, this paired with the Cote de Rhone is a winner)
and the Frozen Berries with White Chocolate Sauce (It’s simple, yet delicious).
I also need to shine light on their first-rate Frites. Thin,
golden and crispy I could probably write an entire blog post about these
perfect potatoes.
Each authentic dish is exquisitely prepared using quality ingredients from both France and England and can be paired with wine from their
extensive menu. From delicious house wines to splurge bottles, there’s bound to
be a glass that suits, and if wine isn’t for you I must recommend their Breton
Cidre - or a particular favourite of
mine - the Kir Royal.
For a quick bite, a comforting dinner or a lavish
celebration, Côte will always be a firm favourite.
