Les Deux Amies; bringing a taste of Brittany to Croydon.
In the excellent Boxpark Croydon you will find Les Deux Amies, a French duo serving gorgeous gluten free galettes.
Made using responsibly and carefully sourced organic ingredients from around the UK the galettes are made solely with buckwheat flour, water and salt making them not only naturally gluten free but dairy free also.
Considered to be savoury pancakes, Les Des Amies have obliged us with wonderful traditional galette fillings such as ham, egg and cheese as well as modern twist, seasonal specials, like Chicken-Avocado with halloumi and sriracha.
With a firm understanding of coeliac disease and cross contamination, Les Deux Amies are more than happy to accomodate to gluten free diners and will happily fill their galettes with sweet toppings such as their homemade banana jam, whipped cream and fruits!
Although the merging of sweet and savoury can be slightly disastrous, Les Deux have certainly cracked their recipe and have managed to make a truly versatile product! I would very much recommend the Nutella & Banana Galette; the savoury crepe perfectly carries the chocolate, and the softness of the banana isn't lost due to the ever so slight stiffness from the galette.
This washed down with their house-made gluten free hot chocolate or a stunning french cider is a combination which can only be described as délicieux.
