THE MODERN PANTRY - www.themodernpantry.co.uk
The Modern Pantry is gluten free utopia; a truly satisfying
dining experience in the oh-so trendy Clerkenwell.
Situated in a Georgian town house The Modern Pantry consists
of 3 floors…
The Ground Floor Café: a modern casual dining space offering
different menus throughout the day.
The North & South Dining Rooms: On the first floor 2
elegant dining rooms offering the same menu as downstairs but in a more formal
setting, ideal for large groups.
The Foundry Room: On the top floor this exquisite room can
seat up to 12 guests and is the perfect place for an intimate dinner or special
occasion.
When I visited The Modern Pantry I went for brunch in the
ground floor café, the food most certainly lived up to the hype.
I started my meal with a Belgian hot chocolate & then
moved onto my main course; Tea smoked salmon and two poached eggs served on
gluten free bread with a citrus hollandaise sauce and hazelnut and macadamia
dukka.
I then treated myself to a brunch cocktail; Lychee,
raspberry, homemade rose syrup & Prosecco.
I was, I must admit,
slightly apprehensive before my visit that it would be quite pretentious but I
couldn’t have been more wrong. It really does feel like a treat being at The
Modern Pantry and the service was flawless, yet the waiters and waitresses are
friendly, approachable and make you feel relaxed. The staff knew exactly what
was gluten free (despite the menu changing everyday) and what substitutions
could be made to suit me.
Pros: Incredible gluten free knowledge and service.
Cons: Umm none. I have no constructive criticism.
Prices: Prices depend on when you are eating. But average – expensive.
Location: 47-48 St John’s Square, Clerkenwell, EC1V 4JJ. Nearest tube: Farringdon
