Ceru; an exciting new eatery that’s firmly made its mark on
West London.
Inspired by their travels, this family run restaurant takes you on
a culinary journey of the intricate flavours of the Levant region.
With over 100 ingredients and 20 spices in the kitchen, each
high quality dish is made with precision and pride and also, happens to be 99% gluten
free.
The all day menu is comprised of multiple sharing plates that are exciting and relevant to this heritage rich cuisine, a real treat for Coeliacs. No more worrying about what spoon has touched what or serving yourself first, you can just tuck straight in!
I would recommend ordering as much as your pockets will
stretch to, but the following vegetarian options blew me away; the Fadi dip (roasted
courgette, yoghurt, lemon and tahini) served with crudités rather pitta bread was unexpectedly
sweet but sinfully good, the winning Crisp Apple, Mint & Pomegranate Salad,
the Fried Halloumi which has since turned me into a true halloumi convert and
the memorable Roasted Aubergine with Chermoula.
For meat and seafood; the Lamb Shoulder (which is slow
roasted for 5 hours in a secret blend of 12 Shawarma spices, with a
pomegranate, fresh mint and pistachio sauce) lives up to its signature status
and the Spice Battered Squid which was probably the hardest dish to share!
If you have room for dessert, then I would suggest the Flavours
of Baklava (Cardamom ice cream with a nut brittle & burnt honey caramel) as
a fun take on the traditional gluten filled pastry!
All this accompanied by a carafe of their carefully selected
wine or a cocktail (try the Passionista by the way) makes for a truly sensual
dining experience.
I have a theory; delicious food always photographs easily and so if Ceru was a supermodel it would be Kate Moss, perfect
from every angle.
