Savoury-lovers rejoice, our gluten free time has come!
Single item menus are all the rage in London, they come with
a presumption of being hipster and expensive but in my eyes Hip Chips are on to
a winner. Gimmick-free Hip Chips is London’s first crisp restaurant and it’s
great for gluten free!
The straight forward concept sees diners choose a crisp
(chips for my American readers) type and a range of dips, the food is then presented
in a compact box which is ideal for both eat in and takeaway.
The delicately fried crisps are good enough to eat on their
own but what sets this place apart are their sensational SHOW STOPPING dips!!
From baba ganouche to smoky cheese fondue or vegetarian ceviche every dip is
gluten free bar one.
There are even dessert crisps (tossed in cinnamon sugar) that
can be indulgently dunked into a chocolate & praline dip or the classic
combo of peanut butter jelly.
Hip Chips’ location makes it ideal as a pre-theatre snack
but would also be great shared between friend’s mid gossip or taken to a picnic
on a hot summers day! A large box costs £11.50 - which I agree sounds a bit
steep - that is until you see the size of the portion, it would easily feed 4
people and includes 6 dips!!!
Hip Chips is a slick, well thought through enterprise – it
even has a sink to wash your hands in!
You may hate the idea of it, but I’m sold.
