PIZZA EXPRESS - www.pizzaexpress.com
For those visiting the UK Pizza Express is one of the
nation’s most loved restaurant chains.
In April 2013 Pizza Express became accredited by Coeliac UK
finally giving us a chance to go to a regular restaurant and making eating
pizza/Italian in a restaurant a relaxing experience.
The menu has plenty of options from starters all the way
through to deserts. All pizzas can be made on a gluten free base and you can
even wash it down with a beautifully smooth GF pilsner by Greens.
Other menu options include; (the absolutely delicious) Slow Roasted Tomatoes, Potato
Nocciola, Melanzane, Superfood Salad, Risotto, Brownies & Sorbets.
I must admit that I’m personally not a huge fan of the pizza
base. I find that it tastes/has more of the consistency of a buckwheat
pancake. However, I do love that we can have any topping we like!
Gluten Free Knowledge: Excellent; all the staff are trained
on coeliac disease and understand cross contamination. I have never had a
problem here.
Price: Excellent value. No extra cost for gluten free! Can be
used with the vouchers. Accepts taste cards.
(for vouchers simply type into google or visit www.pizzaexpress.com/latest-offers)
Location: This is a chain so they are all over the UK and
are called in ‘Milano’ in Ireland.
Tip: A little tip to those who remember pizza express before becoming gluten free… ask for a pot of garlic butter after your pizzas arrived, dip your crusts in and it tastes like dough balls (remember dough balls!?!?!?!)
